Welcome to the King County Chess League

This league serves the area east of Seattle, providing challenging Game/90 chess to students in local high schools. The area includes public and private schools in the districts of Bellevue, Mercer Island, Issaquah, Snoqualmie Valley, Lake Washington, North Shore and other nearby areas.

This web site gives you league events and schedules, contact information, and league documents. We hope this is an easy way to get material which is also emailed each season to coaches and schools.

You may also enjoy a long-term (very long term!) history of the league results. Kingco Chess has been operating continuously since 1968.

2009-10 Kingco Chess

Feb 5^th, 2010 - With one match to go, Interlake B has regained 1st place by a half point! Who will win Kingco? Interlake or Interlake?

Mercer Island has assured themselves a trip to State, but look at that logjam 4th – 8th place! Still 5 teams with a chance to grab one of those final three berths. Bellevue and Issaquah will be hoping to build off their great results last week; and Bothell, ICS and Skyline will be working hard to hold on to their current 6th through 4th positions. Here are the standings through round 8 (including the Bothell-Mercer Island make-up match from Thursday), with full details in the spreadsheet. Our next and final match is Tuesday Feb 9th at Interlake.

Jan 17^th, 2010 - We have all finished at least 5 matches this season with only 4 more to go! The top six Kingco teams are all very close in total point scores. See the league standings for more details and remaining schedule.

Dec 19^th, 2009 - We are 1/3 through the chess season, and league standings are updated on the Downloads page. Our next match is Tuesday, Jan 5th in the Bothell HS Library.

Our current top four teams are: Interlake A, ICS, Interlake B, Mercer Island.

Nov 28^th, 2009 - Our next match is Tuesday, 12/1 in the Skyline HS Library! The clocks start at 3:45pm or earlier if all the teams have arrived.

Note the league schedule has been updated on the Downloads page to reflect a building change: Bothell will host three matches on Jan 5, 12 and 19. And then Interlake will host the final three matches on Jan 26 and Feb 2 and Feb 9.

2008-09 Kingco Chess Results

Feb 19^th, 2009 - Interlake A and Skyline A came within a whisker’s-breadth of becoming co-champions this season, but Interlake A emerged victorious in First Place by a mere 0.5 points! The season's details are all in the Kingco League Standings spreadsheet. Congratulations and compliments go to Interlake for their outstanding job this year.

2007-08 Kingco Chess Results

Feb 9^th, 2008 - Kingco stormed the 2008 State Team Tournament! Skyline A finished 2^nd, Mercer Island 3^rd, Skyline B 7^th, Interlake 16^th, and a Skyline JV member took First Place in the JV division after a heart-stopping two rounds of three-way speed chess playoffs.
